Garage fire at South Edge Works, Hipperholme

The scene on Brighouse Road this morning.

Four appliances from Brighouse, 2 x Halifax and Odsal were required to deal with the fire at South Edge Works on Brighouse Road Hipperholme after being  alerted at 1.48am (27/01/2013). This property used as a motor repair workshop is a two storey building measuring approx. 50m x 30m and found to involve around 20 per cent of the ground floor, including two cars, which were alight. Fire crews used 3 Hosereel jets,  6 Breathing apparatus sets and Positive pressure ventilation fans to clear the property of smoke.

Driver rescued from overturned car in Pontefract Crash

Fire crews along with Paramedics and Police were called at around 9am to the scene on Park Road Pontefract by the M62. A BMW car had left the roadway and landed down an embankment. Fire crews needed to use winches to secure the vehicle. The incident took around 2 hours to complete with the casualty being taken to hospital by road ambulance.

The incident required a full road closure whilst the incident was dealt with. The male driver was reported to have serious but not life threatening injuries.
The Road remained closed for several hours whilst police investigated the cause of the collision. Anyone who witnessed the collision or the vehicle in the moments prior to the collision are asked to call the major collision investigation team on 101

Appliance turning out to Incident

FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze at a pub in Sandal this morning
The fire at The Three Houses Inn was reported as billowing smoke was coming from the pub on the junction of Barnsley Road and Chevet Lane at around 7.40am today. Pumps attended the incident with crews from Wakefield and Ossett still at the scene.

Breaking News !!!! Persons trapped in car Wreckage at Brighouse

Fire and Ambulance crews carry out the extrication of a casualty

This was the scene earlier this evening as Fire service, Paramedics and Police dealt with a road collision with persons trapped. The two vehicles one believed to be a private hire vehicle collided around 5.30pm on the Brighouse carriageway of Huddersfield Road. It is unclear at this stage the condition or number of casualties. Fire crews from Brighouse and Huddersfield attended. The roof was removed from one of the vehicles in order to extricate the casualty. More to Follow.....

This was a Building fire in a now derelict bingo hall. Approx size of the property was 40m X 20m and of three storey's. The ground floor and second floor were involved in fire. Flames came through the roof as onlookers watched the drama unfold. In total Fire crews used 5 Ground monitors and 2 Aerial appliances.  There were no injuries or casualties involved. West Yorkshire Fire used a defensive operation throughout the incident due to the unsafe nature of the building.

Fire Crews pumped water from the canal at the rear of the incident, with the below image showing the unsafe structure with the wall already starting to bow inwards.

 A number of roads around the incident were closed whilst the incident was dealt with. They remained closed today as safety teams decided that the building should be demolished.

Wagon Gutted in New Years day blaze

Littlewood Drive at Hunsworth on the 1st January saw crews dealing with a goods vehicle that was ablaze. This was on the Trading Esate at Hunsworth just off the M62 at junction 26. Smoke was visible from the motorway as crews from Odsal and Cleckheaton attended and dealt with the incident. They used 1 Hosereel jet and 2 breathing apparatus sets.

1st January 2013 at approx 4.20pm and 3 pumps and an Aerial appliance are sent to an incident at Serpentine Road opposite the Tesco's site in Cleckheaton. This lofty single storey building involved a small fire with crews using 1 hosereel jet and Breathing apparatus sets. The fire was reported by the onsite security guard. An aerial appliance was requested to examine the roof of the building as seen below.

Road Traffic Collision Huddersfield

Huddersfield Fire Crews await arrival of ambulance

This was the scene on Bradford Road, Huddersfield on the 3rd of January this year as crews were called to deal with a Road Traffic Collision outside the Wagon and Horses Public House at 7.15pm . There were no serious injuries reported and crews made the vehicles safe.
Fire crews attended from Huddersfield station along with Paramedics and the Police.

Appliances at the scene damping down and using PPV fans to clear smoke from the building

At 6.22pm on Friday the 11th January fire crews were called to a shop fire at Secret Wardrobe Dress Agency, 96 Commercial Street, Brighouse. This was a small fire in a 3 storey building set at the end of a parade of shops in the town centre. The incident required assistance of 3 pumps with fire crews discovering a small fire damaging 5% of the ground floor in a back room of the shop, this has suffered smoke damage.
The incident was under control in half an hour but crews remained at scene until 9.30pm clearing smoke and salvaging some of the stock. Crews used
 2 hose reel jets, 4 breathing apparatus and 2 positive pressure ventilation fans.
Appliances from Brighouse, Elland and Cleckheaton attended along with a fire investigation officer.

School Bus in Collision at Saltaire

Scene Of the Incident on Bingley Road Saltaire 
Police and Ambulance crews attended a collision this afternoon on Bingley Road at Saltaire, Shipley. They received the call at about 3.10pm where a school bus and a van had collided. The front of the van was lodged in the metal barriers on the side of the road. The bus windshield had been shattered by the collision and the rear of the van badly damaged also.The passengers left the Transdev bus after the crash, and a police spokesman said: “There were no serious injuries". An ambulance was called as a precaution and
there were traffic delays with a small stretch of one lane blocked by the two vehicles. Police are now investigating the cause of the accident.
