Take-away fire in Bradford overnight.

Fire crews attended a fire at Barkerend Fisheries on Otley road, Bradford late last night. The shop at the junction of Otley road and Undercliffe Lane involved the ducting from the frying range.

Six workers on the site quickly evacuated the premise and were outside the building when the first fire crews arrived after the call was received just before 11pm last night. 

Fire crews had to remove plaster and cut out timbers close to the pipe on each of the property's floors to stop the fire.

Fire in the ducting spread to roof of the property. 10% of the building was involved of this 15m x 10m property. Firefighters used 2 hosereel jets, 2 B/A's and the CARP appliance. 
Appliances from Bradford (2), Odsal (1), and Fairweather Green (1) attended.


Police attended to enforce the road closure of Undercliffe Lane, whilst crews dealt with the fire.

Wind Torn Interchange building made safe by Fire crews


Police were notified at around 2.00pm yesterday (22/12/2014) as strong and gusting winds affected the roof level section of  1 the Interchange, a building which runs along Nelson street opposite the Jacobs Well car park.

Cosmetic cladding around the edge of the building's flat roof had been ripped away by the ferocity of a wind and another was left hanging loose. Bus services had to be diverted on Jacobs Well, Hall Ings and Bridge Street, with police officers blocking both ends of the street


Fire crews returned this morning to assist in securing the structure using lines and sandbags for weight. Crews from Cleckheaton Technical Rescue attended.

The road which had remained closed since yesterday has now been re-opened.

Breaking News !!!! Driver released after 2 vehicle Tong Street Smash

Fire, police and Ambulance teams attended the Road Traffic Collision on Tong Street at around 7:30pm today. The road was fully closed for the duration of the incident with the road now re opened. Buses were diverted whilst the closures were in place.

The crash involved a BMW car and a light goods vehicle. One casualty was trapped in the BMW who was released by fire crews who attended from Bradford station with 2 appliances. A HART team attended along with the ambulance service to deal with the casualties.

Casualties were conveyed to hospital by ambulance and fire crews made the vehicles safe Police have now started their investigations.

Dewsbury Homes Gutted in Flats Blaze

Fire crews from Batley, Dewsbury and Mirfield attended the flats on Ashworth road at 4:39pm today.

The fire at Ashworth Close has gutted the upper floors and the roof has been burnt away by the ferocity of the blaze. An aerial appliance from Wakefield was required to tackle the fire from above. 

It is believed that no one has been injured however neighbouring homes needed evacuating.

Fire crews with Breathing apparatus and hosereels tackled the incident from within. 



Eyewitnesses on Ashworth Road told me it appears that at least six flats were damaged. Firefighters are still in attendance damping down and a fire investigation will take place into the incident.
